Position Summary

The Managed Services Support Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support customers in their daily use of information systems and resolving problems encountered in the use of computer hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Take direction from the Service Desk Manager
  • Provide timely and professional response to all incoming support requests
  • Maintain exceptional client communication by explaining complex problems to end users with limited technical understanding
  • Ensure all requests are properly documented for reporting and tracking purposes
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve issues that may include:
    • End user PC/Application
    • Network connectivity
    • Server connectivity and performance
    • PC/Server Hardware
    • Additional tasks may include
    • Hands-on tasks with client and internal equipment
    • Device installation, configuration, and turn-up
    • Hardware component installation (RAM, HDD, Controller cards, etc.)
    • Workstation and Server recovery

 

Qualifications

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Two-year certificate from college or technical support strongly preferred

 Related Work Experience: 

  • 3-5 years' experience troubleshooting Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems, business applications, printing systems and network systems.
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.

  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions.
  • Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
  • Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.

  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments.
